Noguchi for Danh Vo: Counterpoint at M+
16 November 2018 – 22 April 2019
This exhibition, the eighth at the M+ Pavilion, is a dialogue between two influential artists who belong to different generations, geographies, and artistic contexts: Isamu Noguchi and Danh Vo. It features works by Noguchi that span his entire career and that encompass many mediums and forms, reflecting his truly multidisciplinary interests. Vo’s contribution consists not only of examples of his recent work, but also of bringing Noguchi to the exhibition, by creating an artistic and institutional connection between M+ and The Noguchi Museum in New York. The composition of Noguchi for Danh Vo: Counterpoint forms a fascinating and elliptical conversation that is expressed through the presentation of the works together. It is through Vo’s vision that we, the audience, are offered perspectives on his own work and on that of Noguchi.
