MD72—Door Slamming Festival (2007–2018)
This anthology tells the story of the influential Berlin art space MD72 between 2007 and 2018 in more than 70 exhibitions.
Over 190 contemporary artists, designers, curators, and writers appear in this anthology. MD72 was established by Alexander Schröder – known both as a gallerist and a collector. Events there reflected the legacies of context art and post-institutional critique, of Berlin’s cultural conditions after German reunification as broader debates informed by postfeminism, postcolonial thought and queer strategies came to the fore. Along with extensive visual documentation of exhibitions and artworks, the book is also a compendium of eyewitness reviews, essays, exhibition notes, interviews, book extracts, and commentary from a wide range of authors.
Edited by Alexander Schröder with Dominic Eichler and Marianna von Palombini
